“If you sit amongst the trees and park to the front of Bankstown Arts Centre and listen very carefully, you can often hear a conversation amongst two fig tree bird, who I like to believe are friends.”

I sketched out a design for this wall with the intent that it be really just an extension of the exquisite ambience along Dale and Olympic parade. The piece is inspired by the small business ‘My Florist’ as well as my rendition of Cynthia Turner’s floral work that you can find on the mosaic tiled mural situated out the front of the florist.

Driving into Bankstown from Marion Street via Olympic Parade, I hoped the over-arching trees would uncover a feeling of surprise and when one walks through; for it to feel as if they are walking along a big, colourful urban jungle; passed human sized florals and a conversation between friends.

Thank you to Canterbury City Council for activating the Dale Parade Mural Project and giving me the opportunity to show my work on a scale like this. Thank you to Bankstown Arts Centre for their gracious hospitality; and I would like to extend a big thanks to a few individuals that helped see these walls to life: Keegan Best and George Khouri.
