Pastime Potato Soup | the Crescent, Homebush West

'Pastime Potato Soup', painted by Christina Huynh, is one of four sibling murals commissioned by Strathfield Council in 2023-2024. Residing at 90 The Crescent in Homebush West, the mural is a still-life scene referencing tea time, adorned by silver dollar tree, eucalyptus gum, mimosa, sunshine conebush, and violet peas. The Chinese porcelain bowl with potato and carrot soup is a pastime favourite childhood dish. The overall scene is inspired by my grandmother's kitchen, accompanying the local Di Yuan Asian Groceries at Flemington Town Centre in Homebush West.
